IDS brings the industry together in Cologne every two years. We make sure it stays connected in between.
IDS.online is an initiative of the German Dental Industry Association (VDDI) – born from the recognition that the dental industry has ground to make up on digitalisation and automation.
IDS.online GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of the VDDI, the German Dental Industry Association. For more than 100 years the VDDI has staged the International Dental Show in Cologne – the dental industry's leading global trade fair with more than 2,000 exhibitors from 160 countries, where every two years the direction of the industry becomes visible.
That is exactly our starting point. At IDS, professionals find out about innovations and products – but the fair happens every two years, while product range, product depth and the pace of change keep growing. What happens at the fair in a few days has to be possible on the other days too.
So in 2022 the association founded IDS.online GmbH: to carry into the digital world what IDS achieves physically – and to connect the players of the dental community permanently.

We build a digital platform for the entire dental community – not for a single market participant. As a subsidiary of the association we are not committed to one side, but to the industry as a whole. And we build it with the industry, not for it: in the Marketing Sounding Board around 40 marketing and sales leads from member companies sharpen the roadmap with us four times a year.

On top of that comes the eIFU portal: since Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1234, instructions for use for medical devices intended for professional users may be provided electronically instead of on paper. We supply manufacturers with a QR code and URL to print on the packaging – the printed leaflet is no longer needed.
